Tonight was savage dunk night in the NBA

January 26, 2009

As I watched some of tonight’s NBA action, my jaw dropped on several occasions due to some dunks that might have warranted an NC-17 rating had they not been shown live. I witnessed two such dunks.
Featured below is a dunk from Brandon Roy (via Bust a Bucket) from tonight’s Blazers vs. Clippers game. This [...]

Michael Redd done for the season

January 25, 2009

Michael Redd had an MRI exam today which revealed tears in both the ACL and MCL in his left knee. These injuries will keep the Bucks’ leading scorer out of action for the remainder of the season.
While the Bucks have struggled with injuries all year, they have managed to maintain a 22-25 record – [...]

Mid-Season Awards

January 25, 2009

We are already a little over halfway through an eventful NBA season, so I thought we should take a look at who are the frontrunners for the major NBA awards. In my mind, most of these have been easy picks thus far, but who knows what the second half of the season will hold.
Rookie [...]

In the third installment of our NBA Blogger Spotlight, we have Joe Spencer of Knee Jerk NBA. I always appreciate the posts on Knee Jerk NBA, because they are irreverent, highly opinionated, and effectively capture the essence of what NBA fandom is all [...]

Alonzo Mourning officially retires

January 22, 2009

It was a little over a year ago that I wrote a post about the implications that Alonzo Mourning, a seven-time All-Star, would be retiring. However, Mourning had continued to work out at the Heat’s training facility and they kept a locker for him as he tested himself physically and recovered from a torn patella [...]

NBA Studs and Duds 1/19/09

January 19, 2009

Studs:
Jason Kidd, Dallas MavericksKidd played like he hit the ‘five years back’ button on his time machine tonight, as he was a major factor in the Mavericks’ nail-biting win over the 76ers. Not only did Kidd drain 6 of 8 from behind the arc on his way to 22 points, he also added 12 boards [...]

The Oregonian is reporting that Rudy Fernandez has received the fan vote to be the final competitor in this year’s Sprite Slam Dunk Contest this year. The Blazers will be holding a press conference at 12:30 to make the official announcement.

New All-Star uniforms unveiled

January 19, 2009

The 2009 All-Star game uniforms were recently unveiled by Men’s Fitness, and they are looking sharp this year.  They were designed by Adidas, and are relatively simple but with a bit of flare. In my mind, nearly any uniform choice would be better than last year, as each team had a front or back of [...]

DeSagana Diop traded to Charlotte

January 17, 2009

Another relatively unexciting trade went down yesterday evening as the Dallas Mavericks shipped DeSagana Diop to the Charlotte Bobcats in exchange for Matt Carrol and Ryan Hollins.
This trade will likely have the most impact for the Bobcats, as they will now have a big-bodied defensive center in Diop that can play alongside Emeka Okafor. This [...]
